Night Safety Hub Strengthens Safety in Islington’s Night‑Time Economy
Islington Police Night‑Time Economy (NTE) Crime Reduction officers have confirmed the continued rollout of the Islington Night Safety Hub following a successful police‑led launch over the Easter weekend.
Working in partnership with Islington Council and Parkguard Ltd, the Night Safety Hub operated from Thursday 2nd April to Sunday 5th April across key nightlife locations including Angel, Upper Street, Finsbury Park, Exmouth Market and major night‑club venues. Working alongside Nightsafe teams, Police patrols, CCTV operators and emergency services, the Hub provided a highly visible point of safety, reassurance and crime prevention during peak risk hours.
During the initial deployment, The Hub helped safeguard vulnerable individuals, including lone women at risk, supported intoxicated or distressed people, de‑escalated antisocial behaviour, disrupted harassment and suspected criminal activity, and facilitated early medical intervention where required. Practical welfare support such as phone charging, water, transport assistance and safety advice reduced risk escalation and demand on emergency services.
With funding now approved for 30 deployments, the Police‑led Night Safety Hub will operate on key high‑risk dates throughout the year as part of Islington Police’s wider NTE crime reduction and Violence Against Women and Girls strategy.
